For many people, migrate is a life changing decision, for me it just another starting point of my life. All my life, I haven’t been to another country until now. Despite the fact that I just been staying here for couple of months up to this time, but it have been the most life changing experience I ever see. First of all, this is the first time I been away from my hometown, my family, my people, so it been a rough time for me to adapt to this new way of living. I must thing differently, I must to take care myself from now on, there is no one else can help me in this foreign country except myself. I have been through a lot of difficult situation so I must change the way I talk, the way I behave and the way I used to dress because it not fit with this weather anymore. But I always keep my army jacket to remind me of the person I used to be back in Vietnam.
Back in Vietnam, I’m totally a comic geek, so I usually collect comic book, toys, poster etc. and do dress up like army and super heroes in Comic Con, Manga festival…etc. When travel to this country to study, I have to give up all of that, I guess that one of the part of growing up and become an adult ,that is you have to give up some of your childhood habit. But when travel to this country, I only can bring some small amount of clothes and some necessary house hold equipment. My mother told me to leave the jacket back but I choose to bring it because I try to hold on to some part of me that I never want to forget. Even when I already stay in this country, I rarely wear it to go outside, but I kind of have the feeling that I will regret if I leave it behind. I guess that for many people, no matter how far they travel, how different they become compare to the person they used to be back in their country, they will try to hold on to the object that can remind them to their past.
